Sajjan
Garh: Visible from all parts of Udaipur
and famous, this fortress is also known as the Mansoon
Palace. It was built as an observatory by Marahana Sajjan
Singh and was originally planned as a nineteen storied
structure. This landmark dominates the skyline from its
position 2468 feet high on top of Bansdara Mountain. It
provides splendid views of the City and the surrounding
countryside.
Admission Charge: Rs. 100 per car + Rs. 40 per
person.
Lake Pichola: The
beautiful Lake Pichola is surrounded by hills, palaces,
temples and bathing ghats. It is the largest of all
Udaipurs lake. The backdrop of the overlooking City
Palace gives this lake its name-Pichola. In the midst of
this lake are situated the island palaces of Jag Niwas
and Jag Mandir. Boat Trips between 10.00 & 17.00
From Bansi Ghat at Rs. 75 for ½ hour trip (not landing
in the island), Rs. 150 for ¾ hour trip (inc. a short
stop on Jag Mandir Island), Rs. 800 for I hour solar boat
hire (carrying upto 8 persons).

Dudh Talai: Connected
to lake pichola is this lake and on the banks is situated
a beautiful, musical fountain adjacent to the sunset
point opposite the Machala Magra Mountain. The lovely,
tranquil sun set point likes a picturesque view of the
sun setting over Lake Pichola. For those who enjoy a
brisk climb and an even wider view, there is a path to
the top of the mountain upon, which stands the ruin of an
ancient fort called the "Audhi".
Jag
Mandir: Maharana Karan Singh commenced the
other island palace on Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir, but
later on Maharana Jagat Singh made a number of additions
to it; hence the name is derived from him. Mogul Emperor
Shah Jahan who once stayed in this grandiose palace is
said to have been inspired here for building the Taj
Mahal .
Gulab
Bagh: Literally meaning "The Rose
Garden", is situated in Sajjan Niwas Park in the
heart of the city. Sajjan Singh laid out the Gulab Bagh
in the late 19th Century. The Saraswati Bhawan
Library was originally built to commemorate Queen
Victorias Diamond Jubilee. It contains many rare
books and a displaced statue of Victoria. This building
is also known as a Navlakha Mahal and has cherished
memoirs of Swami Dayanand Saraswati.

Jagdish
Mandir: The temple dedicated to Lord
Jaganath-an incarnation of Lord Vishnu was Built by
Maharana Jagat Singh I in 1651. The exterior and the
plinth are covered with Bas-relief of alligators;
elephants, horsemen and celestial musicians rise in
tiers. Hymns, bells and holy-music can be heard here
throughout the day. This is the largest and most splendid
temple of Udaipur.
Crystal
Gallery: Unique Collection of Crystals of
Bygone Era: The Crystal Gallery Located in Fateh
Prakash Palace (part of the Grand City Palace complex)
was opened to the public in 1994. Overlooking the Durbar
Hall, the Crystal Gallery has a grand collection of more
than 600 rare objects collection from different parts of
the world. Inspired by the Showroom of the Birmingham
based company F & C Osler in Calcutta, this unique
collection of the gallery was ordered by Maharana Sajjan
Singh Ji in the year 1877. From lamps to washing bowls,
perfume bottles to paperweights & writing
instruments, the collection has it all. The Crystal
Gallery also boasts a crystal bed, the only one of its
kind in the world. Besides these, other fascinating
objects include a sofa set, a dining table, fountains,
various coloured crystal objects, mirrored tabletops and
exquisite decanters.

Moti
Magri: An impressive bronze status of
Maharana Pratap on his horse stands at the top of Moti
Magri (Pearl Mount) overlooking Fateh Sagar. Hundreds of
people climb the hill to pay homage to Rana Pratap and
his faithful charger Chetak, who was killed in the battle
of Haldighati. There are the ruins of one of the first of
Udaipurs forts and a delightful Japanese Rock
Garden nearby.

Fateh
Sagar Lake: The pride of the City of
Lakes, this lake was constructed towards the north of
Lake Pichola. The lake is bordered on three sides by
hills and on the fourth side it is dammed. The name
derives from Fateh Singh, who built the lake. Visitors
can take a short trip to exquisite Nehru Island Park,
which is the focal point in the lake.
